We had breakfast at the hotel and they offered to call us a taxi for our trip out to the Alta airport. Taxis are much more expensive when you are picked up and have an airport trip involved, but it was that or walk for an hour…

The flight to Oslo was painless. The next step was not. It took us asking 5 times to get correct information about finding the shuttle bus to take us to our hotel. We lost a couple of hours in the process, although we did find lunch of hot dogs and ice cream along the way. From the hotel we immediately went back to the airport to catch the bus to Alix’s house to get the harp. After short visit with Alix, we took the bus and shuttle back to the hotel. We had dinner at the hotel and then took a walk around the area just to get a chance to exercise, knowing the next day would be all travel.
We finally got a photo of the moose (elk, by Norwegian standards) crossing sign (I never got a chance to get a deer or reindeer sign) and to see some more yellowhammers. Then back to the hotel to figure out how to pack the bags to meet the airline restrictions.

Up at 4:30 am to catch the shuttle to the airport. Check-in and security were relatively simple, as were our flights, except for loading at Heathrow. There was a delay due to a safety certificate, plus we had to be bused to an off-site loading area. We ate lots along the way – a small bit of the included breakfast at the hotel, then breakfast on the plane, then hot chocolate and millionaire shortbread at the airport, a large lunch on the plane, and a small dinner as well. The final difficulty of the trip was finding that my harp did not make it from Heathrow – probably due to the terminal/loading changes with our flight. There were a number of other bags that also didn’t make it.The harp arrived safe and sound around 12:45 am on the 14th, so all is well.
