I don't know that this applies to me, but it applies to the fortune -- there were two of these in the same cookie...
I guess I've been vigorous in my trip planning, because after deciding we would wait until we were in Norway to decide what to do with our last few nights, we remembered a thought we'd had early on about going to the very north of the country to see the midnight sun. I think we realized that if we ever get back to Norway it's unlikely it will be during the short period of the midnight sun. We'll be there for it this time, so we should take advantage of it while there. So, we are flying north to Alta to see the ancient paintings/carvings that were discovered when I was a kid. I really wanted to see them back when I first heard of them. Many years later, here's the opportunity. We are also going to take a boat north to the Northernmost town of Hammerfest before returning back to Oslo.
If you don't remember about these ancient Norwegian carvings, see this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_carvings_at_Alta
So, our free-wheeling plans have suddenly turned into definite plans, but we think it's very exciting to be doing this.
It's hard to believe that in three days we'll be on the plane to Norway.
