My first reaction to this fortune is wondering if this is a good thing or a bad thing. After all, it's nice to be the person someone thinks of when they need help, but do you really want any of your friends to be facing trouble?
That aside, I can twist my week to believe this one came true. (I received the fortune last week sometime.) I've been doing the final hours of my internship for the Music for Healing and Transition Program. This is a training/certification program that teaching people how to play music for patients at the bedside. I have been playing at the local hospital, and recently also at the local hospice. This week led to a connection of the two -- I played for two patients at hospice that I had previously played for at the hospital. One of these apparently requested my services again, as I received a call from hospice the next day asking that I come back. I played for the patient again the following day. It varies from patient to patient as to whether you can tell if the music is helping, but with certain ones it is very clear, and it can be an extremely rewarding experience to have that kind of positive impact on someone. I only have one hour left in the program, and although the time drain to complete it has been difficult, I will really miss doing this work on this regular basis. I am hoping I will be able to find some way to continue the service.
